I have been around Amateur Radio since the early 90's and upgraded to Amateur Extra about 25 years ago.
While I enjoy experimenting with many different aspects of the hobby, I get the most enjoyment in working HF CW. I was one of those nuts who used to work CW/QRP/M when driving many years ago. Those days are gone forever! When time permits, I enjoy activating State Parks for the Parks on the Air program. In the photo above I was activating the Fire Island National Seashore for the POTA program .
The “glory” days of the 90’s, when the call was new and the HF bands were “loaded” during that peak of that sunspot cycle is truly missed.
In addition to the fun on the low bands, I have held various positions within ocal radio clubs, served as an ARRL Volunteer Examiner and worked many local emergency communications events as an ARES member.
